Can Anti-Seize be Used with 2-1/4 Long Torx Trailer Floor and Wall Liner Screw
Published 11/18/2021 >
Question:
I have applied Never Seize to screws just because. It seems to at installation acts like a good lubricant for cut through of the frame. Might be too good. As a couple of times since I am installing with a impact drill seems like they gripped and then released and spinned. I am not too concerned about those as I went back and hand tightened and they seemed fine. Just wondering if anyone knows if the anti seize will affect the strength of the coating on the screws or help with corrosion over the years the boards or on? I used Ground Contact Pressure Treated boards and treated ends with the Rust-oleum Copper coat not sure if that is good to do either. I figured it may help since the trailer is out in weather year round. I did remove all 15 years of the surface rust, primed and top brush coated the entire frame with Rust-oleum. I was going to use old motor oil to act as a preservative, Rust-oleum advised against it as the paint may be harmed doing so. Any comments by someone who actually knows anything about what I am working on would be appreciated as I was just winging it. Best Regards

Helpful Expert Reply:
The coating of the 2-1/4" Long Torx Trailer Floor and Wall Liner Screw for ACQ Treated Wood # TFX225ACQ will not be negatively affected by using anti-seize like you mentioned. In general though these fasteners would do an excellent job fighting corrosion since they are coated for that purpose and to not cause issue with ACQ wood so doing anything beyond just installing them really won't make too much of a difference.
