Question:

A function questions. My old converter unit had a switch setting for OFF-BATTERY-CONVERTER. I don’t see this on the new unit. Does it automatically switch to converter when AC is present?

The # PD4135K is a 2-in-1 AC/DC distribution panel and converter charger that keeps your power systems easily accessible inside the RV and works with lithium or lead acid battery banks. The converter/charger operates at up to 35 amps and works with lithium-ion, flooded lead acid, AGM, and gel batteries. The charging profiles available in this unit will be a dramatic increase in performance over the Magnatek 6612. The AC distribution has 5 branch circuits rated at 30 amps each. The DC distribution has fused circuits, 1 at 40 amp and 6 each at 30 amp.

Thanks…I have ordered the unit. Two more questions: The Installation Details link on the product page is broken. I will be using this with a new lithium battery. How should I connect a solar panel (and controller) to the battery when I do not have shore power for the converter?

Please try the below link the Installation Instructions for the Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center, # PD4135K. There is no special way to connect a solar panel and converter that is different for a Lithium chemistry battery vs. a lead acid. You do however need to ensure that the controller itself is for Lithium battery bank. If you do not already have a system selected, let us know what your power demands are and we can make a recommendation. You can install a permanent/fixed system that is always providing a charge to your battery when sunlight is available or, a portable system that you deploy when you choose to. You can even do a combined system as well if you have a large enough controller. One or two fixed panels at 100 watts each plus another 100-200 watts of portable to deploy when you want to. We will have full detailed instructions, and possibly an installation video available too once we select the option. Please let us know what power demands you have and we get working on that.

Yes, if you install this per the listed directions, see the link below for the pdf of installation and an installation/product review video too, this will function without need to manually switch each time you connect and/or want to charge the battery bank. This is a DC and AC distribution panel as well as a battery charger, i.e. converter. This all-in-one breaker box distributes AC and DC loads to your RV and charges your batteries while connected to shore power. You will, at time of installation, need to select type of battery chemistry, lead acid, lithium. Then, once you connect to shore power, the power pedestal at your camp ground, an outlet at home, or a generator set, it will provide AC power to the power control center. If you have solar installed, ensuring you follow the proper directions of installation for the solar controller, the two will integrate. The usual method is that the solar controller will augment the converter when shore power is available and then taper off as needed. If shore power is available, it will take primary and solar is secondary for charging the battery bank. Please note the links below.
