That is a good choice. The Redarc Trailer Brake Controller With Adapter appeals to me because all you see in the cab of your truck is the dash-mounted knob. This trailer brake provides a custom fit for your 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom. It consists of the following:
Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 3 Axles - Proportional, part # RED44FR, and
Redarc Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers, part # 331-TPH-010.
This unit utilizes a 3-axis accelerometer, so its positioning is not limited by the unit's orientation. It can quickly go from a proportional brake controller setup to a user-control mode. This is a custom setup for your vehicle. The wiring harness plugs into the wiring of your vehicle underneath your dash on the driver's side of the vehicle and the other end plugs into the brake controller unit.
If your vehicle does not have a 7-way adapter at the rear of your vehicle, but it has a 4-pole connector, the last part you need for your installation is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires, part # ETBC7. This kit will add a 4-way flat and a 7-way RV connectors to your vehicle.
I have included product description links and a video review links below.
