Should you season it before you use it like a cast iron griddle

The Greystone Outdoor RV Griddle and Grill # WAY34FR has a porcelain griddle which it would be a good idea to season the first time you use it. To do that spread a thin coating of solid vegetable shortening over the entire surface, including all corners, with a paper towel.
