Video Transcript for Review of Dometic RV Water Heater - Standard Water Heater Gas White - DMC93RR

Hi, everybody, Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our Dometic RV water heater. It's a gas with an autopilot light running on 12 volts of power, rated at 10,000 BTUs with a six-gallon capacity tank and a white conversion kit color. Now, folks, like I said, you've got a white conversion kit here on the trim. That's the white door. They also give you these two little panel additions and these are gonna be for the sides, depending on if you need to cover, like, an old existing hole or something, maybe a little bit wider.

That's what those are for. You're also gonna get, I'll remove this panel here real quick. So, again, when it's installed, everything's gonna be screwed in nice and tight, and it's gonna be hinged and it's gonna have these spring locks. But you're gonna get a set of these, these are gonna be your corner brackets to help reinforce everything. They just kinda twist off from each other.

You're gonna get screws, you're gonna get some hinges, and you're gonna get all the other reinforcements that match up in these corners, as well. So, some of them are gonna have the latch arm that you would twist that are spring loaded to then keep that door closed. Now, getting into the unit, this is a quick recovery water heater, it provides long lasting supply of hot water, with just a small lightweight tank. The whole thing here today weighs about 18 pounds. Pretty light.

(tank thuds) As you can see, it's insulated. Now, the back here has the hot and cold caps on just for shipping purposes to keep things out, you just simply pop them off when it's time for install. Some quick dimensions from the cutout all the way back to the pipe, it is 19 and 7/8 inches deep. It's 12 and 3/4 inches by 12 and 3/4 inches square on the cutout here, and that's what it's gonna fit. Now, this can produce up to 12 gallons of hot water per hour and it uses an automatic DSI gas pilot that's gonna heat the water once you reach your destination and turn everything on.

And it's gonna rely automatically until the heater's switched off. Inside of here is a U-shaped flue tube, and that's gonna distribute more heat from the burner out to that water, giving it its impressive 80% heating efficiency rating. The tank itself is an aluminum cloud tank, that's gonna reduce calcium buildup, limit corrosion. You're not gonna have to worry about an anode rod. That being said, it uses a drain plug that is nylon. It's actually down here on the bottom, kinda hard to see, but it's underneath that pipe there, right there. And that's nice because it's gonna let the water drain out here. Some of the other models I've seen, they're kind of up at the top and they just get water on everything if you have to drain. So just keep that in mind. As far as the connection, it's a gas 3/8-inch outer diameter connection. It's gonna come through this grommet right here and it's gonna pop out and connect underneath this safety red cap here that's on there for shipping, as well, to keep stuff out. And that's where you're gonna thread in that gas line. You've got your pressure relief valve here up at the top and all your wiring and everything out the side here for winding up to 12 volts to give it the power and everything it needs. The temperature is a thermostatic controlled unit. It's gonna be, you know, easily controlled with that thermostat. A high-temperature sensor limit switch is automatically gonna shut the unit off if it gets too hot. And that pressure relief valve, just like all hot waters have, is gonna keep, you know, safely relief pressure in the event of excessive water expansion. Now, this actually has an air pocket in the tank. It's designed that way. That's gonna keep that valve from dripping inside your cabinet. Now this also uses a combustion shutter that will adjust the oxygen level in the pilot lighting for higher altitude. So let's say you're camping or offroading or whatnot in the mountain areas, you don't have to worry about it. It's gonna do its thing automatically. Everything is externally sealed. It's gonna keep everything clean. And this is an open unit, meaning you can hook this up and test it before you seal everything up on the sides, put your blocking in and all that good stuff. Now, this also includes that conversion kit, like I was mentioning, in case you need to go for a bigger cutout and that kinda stuff. So you should be good there. And 10,000 BTU, that's the rating. And, again, it is a six-gallon tank on the capacity. Now we do also offer this with a black conversion kit. So, again, the door and everything here today is white, but we do offer this with a black color option and that whole kit is sold separately as a separate part number. Well, folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our look together. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.

Great OEM replacement. Pretty easy to install. Just wish it came with butyl tape. You will probably need to adjust the air/fuel ratio after installation. Heats water well.

Thank You for your timely shipment! This Gas/12v Water Heater will serve the purpose for my replacement for my RV Trailer. I only thought that it was going to be a 6 week wait but you made it successful from a BACKORDER. Apparently I was needing a 6gal Tank for the location that I was needing to put it in at and the only kind that would come up with is particular model without Electric(110v). Also Apparently, your company didn't have the 110v 6gal Tank! That was the particular model that I was needing and that was what I had that went out on me! Kenwood was the brand of my old one you said that they discontinued the particular model! I can make it ADAPTABLE for the LP Gas hook up only now.

  • Replacement Water Heater for Atwood G6A-3
Hi Devon; all of the Atwood G6A models are 6 gallon water heaters with some slight variation within the models which is why you see the Dometic # DMC74FR (Gas/Electric) or # DMC39RR (Gas only) recommended as the replacement. The same is true for your G6A-3. I don't have a lot of information on the G6A-3 but I would choose a replacement based on whether your current model is gas or gas/electric. You also want to check your current cutout. If you have a 16-1/2" wide cutout you want the...

  • Replacement Water Heater Recommendation for Suburban SW6P in Skyline Nomad
Hey John, if you were wanting to stick with a standard style 6 gallon water heater the Dometic part # DMC93RR that you referenced would be a great option for something that would work well like what you are already used to. Now if you were thinking about wanting something nicer we have the Furrion RV Tankless kit part # FR92TD which since it heats the water on demand you won't ever run out of hot water. My parents had this one in their last camper and really liked it too so I know you'd...
