Question:

Hello, I have a minivan of 3500 lb towing capacity I installed a transmission cooler and power steering cooler. But the camper I found is an off-road capable one and its coupler is 10 inch higher than my hitch ball. How much is the max trailer weight that I can tow with the 10 rise hitch? Is there any product you would recommend to minimize tow capacity loss by the excessive rise? Thank you always.

I have a couple of options for you. To answer your question first, you will not have to worry about loss of tow capacity with the 10" rise you are looking for. Both of the options I am going to give you will be well over the towing capacity of your 2010 Honda Odyssey so you won't have to worry about the ball mounts not being rated high enough.

The first option is the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 8-3/4" Rise - 10" Drop item # AMSC10. This fixed ball mount is slightly shorter than the 10" rise you are looking for but has the highest rise in our fixed ball mount category. It is rated for 8,000 lbs. You would need to purchase a ball. I recommend the 2" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter x 2-1/4" Long Shank - Chrome - 12,000 lbs item # 40038. Or the Curt 2-5/16" Hitch Ball item # C40030.

The second option is the Fastway Flash Solid Steel Adjustable 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 10" Drop, 11" Rise item # FA49-00-5900. This adjustable, solid steel ball mount, can go from a 10" drop to an 11" rise. It has a 12,000 lbs capacity with either the 2" or 2-5/16" ball. It is a forged steel shank that has been powder coated for corrosion resistance.
