Cutting Extension Rod of Gustafson RV LED Pendant Light

Question:

Can I cut the extension rod for a mount over a dinette table ? Aka, make it shorter.

Expert Reply:

The Gustafson RV LED Pendant Light, # 277-000461 has threads on the top of the rod. These threads feed through the ceiling mount plate and have a nut attached to hold it in place, see attached image. If you cut the rod shorter you will cut away the threads. However, if you are able to rethread the rod yourself I suppose, yes, you can make it shorter.
