Is this unit compatible with the built in brake controller on my 2017 GMC 3500 ?

The HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit for Disc Brakes # HBA16-252-82 is supposed to work directly with the OEM brake controller in your 2017 GMC Sierra 3500.
With that being said, OEM controllers aren't the most reliable and they can be a little temperamental at times. If you happen to have issues with your OEM controller working with this system then you can use the Adapter Module # HBA-CAM and you should be just fine.
The only other way around this would be to install an aftermarket controller. This isn't the worst idea anyways simply because we have found the aftermarket controllers to be more reliable than the OEM controllers. If you'd like to swap out to aftermarket then I recommend using the Prodigy P3 # 90195 which will plug in under your dash using the Adapter # 3016.
