Truck Bed Ladder Rack With Short Crossbars

Question:

Im fixing up my 4X8 open utility trailer with 42 inch high metal sides and was thinking this rack TH34RR would work if I could get cross bars closer to 55. The 72 inch ones a bit too long for a 50 inch wide open trailer box. I plan to work with a welder to fabricate something similar to a truck bed top rail for mounting this rack system on the trailer. I have a Thule Motion 16 cu ft roof box on my Silverado and want to put it on the trailer. Also thinking about other types of rack accessories depending on my needs for the trailer. I saw there were 60 inch Thule bars listed on you website. Would those cross bars work on this rack. Thanks

So we do have a nice option for a truck bed ladder rack similar to the Thule Xsporter Pro # TH34RR that has crossbars shorter than the Xsporter's 72 inch bars, though there isn't an option from Thule. Instead, what you can use is a rack from Yakima:

- Yakima OverHaul HD Adjustable Truck Bed Ladder Rack # Y01151-57

The OverHaul HD # Y01151-57 has 60 inch crossbars like you were wanting, and will allow you to mount your cargo box as well as other accessories because the crossbars are the shape of roof rack crossbars, measuring 3" x 1-1/2" with T-slots in the top.

The rack has a 500 lb capacity and the T-slots allow you to easily mount tie-downs such as the Eye Bolts # Y01162 or Load Stops # Y01161.
