Will Unlevel Tandem Axle Trailer Cause Tires to Wear Out Unevenly
Published 09/28/2021 >
Question:
Good Day, I have a tandem axle trailer in which I pull my side by side on. My truck is high so I compensate that with loading my side by side more towards the front of my trailer, in which it drops the front 2 inches. Its does ride a bit higher in the front still, both front tires on the front axle are wearing faster than the rear ones. This is also with the same psi as the others. Why is this happening? Please help.

For tandem axle trailers you really need the trailer sitting as level as possible to ensure all of the tires wear at the same rate. Otherwise you'll end up in a situation like what you have now where one axle's tires just seem to wear out quicker. Only exception might be if the axle has an alignment issue which is most likely not case if both front tires are wearing out the same way.
It could also be that your exceeding weight capacity of the trailer. If you need a ball mount with a different amount of rise/drop to allow your trailer to be towed level let me know what you have now and how far off you are and I will recommend the correct one.
