Does this light require a mounting base of some sort?

The Optronics Miro-Flex LED Trailer Side Marker Light and Mid-Ship Turn Signal - Submersible - Amber Lens item # MCL48AB mounts directly to the surface of a trailer. It does not require a mounting base but you will need to provide your own screws or bolts. The sonically sealed waterproofed housing and lens unit is completely submersible.
