Troubleshooting Lippert SolidSteps That Are Blocking The Screen Door From Closing
Updated 09/09/2021 | Published 09/08/2021 >
Question:
I just tried installing my Lippert Solid Steps. I wasnt really sure if the threshold need to be left in or not so I left it in. All was going good until I tried the screen door. It will not close. It looks like I need to take about 1/4 inch off the bottom. Is this normal? Nit really sure how Im going to take off the 1/4 inch. Im already about 6 hours into the install. All the videos that I watched made it look so easy!!!! Help!!!

Helpful Expert Reply:
Is your SolidStep Manual Fold-Down Steps for 29" to 36" Wide RV Door Frames # LC791575 hinge sitting flat on the bottom of the door frame? The hinge will need to sit flat up against the bottom and outside edge of the door frame like you can see in the attached video around the 7 minute mark. If not, that could be causing the bind up with your screen door. Typically the screen door is anywhere from 1/4"-1/2" above the door frame with a brush weather strip to keep out bugs so it shouldn't be coming into contact with the step hinge.
If the hinge is completely flat against the door frame then please reply back with some pictures so we can keep troubleshooting the issue.
