The 20 lb. propane tank is the most commonly used propane tank, the 20 lb. tank is the standard size tank for barbecue grills, turkey fryers, and smaller size travel trailers and pop-up campers. The 30 lb. tank is frequently found on larger RV's. The height is 17”-19” for 20 lb. tanks and 23”-25” for 30 lb. tanks. The base of each is comparable. For safety and convenience, if you are storing/transporting a propane cylinder I recommend the Camco Stabilizing Base for 20-lb or 30-lb Propane Cylinders, # CAM57236.
One of our best tank covers for campers is the Camco RV Polyethylene Propane Tank Cover for (2) 20-lb or 30-lb Steel Tanks - Colonial White # CAM40532. This heavy-duty polyethylene cover has a convenient lid that opens for access to the valves. This is for (2) 20-lb. or 30 lb. tanks.
