Hello, can you attach two step thru bikes without the added bar attached to frame? This would be used on a 2012 CRV. Thanks in advance,

On the Swagman Chinook # S64683, you will not be able to attach 2 step-thru bikes without an adapter bar like the SportRack Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's and Alternative Frame Bikes # SR0500.

However, if you are looking for a 2-bike rack that doesn't require a bike frame adapter bar, I recommend the Saris Freedom 2 # SA4412B. The cradles on the Saris Freedom 2 are individually adjustable so they will fit your step-thru style frames. Also, the Freedom 2 has an increased per-bike weight capacity (60 pounds compared to the Chinook's 45 pounds). For theft-deterrence on the Freedom 2, I recommend the Hitch Tite Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock # SA3022 and the Saris Cable Lock # SA981.

For a compatible hitch receiver with both the Chinook and the Freedom 2 for your 2012 Honda CR-V, I recommend the etrailer Hitch Receiver # e98868. You will have no bumper clearance issues when using both bike racks on the hitch. The etrailer receiver comes with a complete hardware kit for an easy, bolt-on installation.
