Great product. Just use an extra strap between your frame (under the seat) and the carrier bar for added safety. Just think... if the seat came off, your bike would be on the ground without it! 5923

Ask the Experts about this SportRack Accessories and Parts

  • Weight Capacity of # SR0500 SportRack Frame Adapter Bar
According to SportRack, the capacity of their Frame Adapter Bar # SR0500 is 35 lbs. I've checked with our other bike rack manufacturers such as Thule, Yakima, Kuat and Swagman among others, and have found that the 35 lb capacity is typical. Over the years, we've found that the Swagman adapter bar, part # 64005 is the easiest to use.

  • Dimensions of Openings on SportRack Bike Adapter Bar SR0500
I went to our warehouse and measured the two ends of the SportRack Bike Adapter Bar # SR0500. I found that the openings are 2-1/8-inch wide x 3-1/2-inch long so a bike seat post or handlebar stem up to 2-1/8-inches wide can be accommodated and will allow the bike to be carried on a standard hanging style bike carrier.

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for a Bike that Weighs 42 lbs
I spoke to my contact at Sportrack and she informed me that the Adapter Bar part # SR0500 that you referenced has a 35 lb capacity. All of the adapter bars we carry are rated at 35 lbs. If you are in need of an adapter bar for a 42 lb bike your only option would be to go with a platform style bike rack. The T2 bike rack part # TH9044 for a 2 inch hitch or the # TH9045 for a 1-1/4 inch hitch would be a great option for you as they can handle bikes that weigh 60 lbs each.

  • Securing Bike With Alternative Frame To Platform Bike Carrier
Most frame mount platform bike racks will fit a vareity of bike frames. If you have concerns with the crossbar height of any bikes you can check out an adapter bar like part # SR0500. This adapter attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and provides a level plane for securing the bike on a carrier.

  • SportRack Bike Frame Adapter Bar Length
The maximum length of the SportRack Bike Frame Adapter Bar # SR0500 is 22-5/8 inches. It falls under the category of adapter bars that are 14-5/8 inches to 29-1/4 inches so that may be where the confusion is. I attached a review video for this product for you to check out also. If you are looking for a longer adapter bar you might be interested in the Yakima Top Tube Adapter bar part # Y02531. This bar extends out to 31-1/2 inches of length.

  • Is SportRack Bike Frame Adapter Bar, # SR0500, Needed For Womens Bikes On The SportRack # SR2603
Yes, you will want to use the SportRack Bike Frame Adapter Bar, # SR0500, on bikes that will not have the horizontal bar that goes from the seat post to the handlebar post. On womens bikes and some alternative bikes there is no horizontal bar that allows you to attach the bike to the bike rack. The bike frame adapter will clip on to the bike and give you that horizontal bar.

  • Available Bike Adapter Bars for Women's and Alternate-Frame-Design Bikes
If you are referring to bike adapter bars like the part # SR0500 that you referenced we do offer these from several makers. All are shown on the linked page. These vary in price and in their extension length. For example, Swagman's adapter bar # 64005 is among the lowest-cost options and this one extends from 16- to 29-1/2-inches.

  • Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Fit for a 2011 Chevy Aveo
For your 2011 Chevy Aveo the Saris Bones part # SA805BL is a confirmed fit that would work well. This is one of the nicest and easiest to use trunk racks available and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg as well. Check out the review video I attached for more info as well. If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes...

  • Will SportRack Bike Frame Adapter Bar Fit SportRack Spare Tire Bike Rack
Yes, you can use the SportRack adapter bar, # SR0500, with the SportRack spare tire mounted bike rack. However you should only need it if the bike you need to load has a step-through frame, alternatively shaped frame tubing, or the top frame bar is not long enough to fit the rotating cradles on the rack. I have included a link to a video that shows how adapter bars work. It is a different bar but the principle is the same.

  • Comparing the Thule, Yakima, and SportRack Swinging Bike Racks for a 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
The compatibility of the bikes rack that you listed is going to be dependent on what trailer hitch you have installed on your 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. That said, most of them do not sit too far behind the bumper so you should not have any issues with this. If you don't already have a trailer hitch, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13200 which I can confirm will work with the Yakima FullSwing 4 Bike Rack part # Y02465, the Thule Apex Swing XT 4 Bike Rack part # TH9027XT,...

The only way you are going to be able to open the rear doors on your 2007 Dodge Sprinter with a bike rack installed and the bikes attached would be to use a swing-away bike rack. I saw that you were looking at four bike racks so if this is how many bikes you have then I recommend going with the SportRack Ridge Swing 4 Bike Rack part # SR2415 which is currently the most cost effective option that fits the bill. However, you will need the SportRack Bike Frame Adapter Bar part # SR0500 for...

For a trailer hitch that is a confirmed fit for your 2018 Honda Odyssey, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76170 which has a concealed cross tube that means only the receiver tube is visible from the rear. There is also no drilling required to install this either as you can see in the attached video. For a 5-bike rack, I recommend the Thule Apex XT 5 Bike Rack part # TH9026XT which is one of my favorites because it has anti-sway cradles to keep your bikes...

  • How to Carry Bikes on a 2017 Ram ProMaster
I do have an option for you but they do not make a bike rack that attaches to the rear swinging doors on your 2017 Ram ProMaster to my knowledge. The only logical way to carry bikes on this vehicle would be with a trailer hitch and hitch mounted bike rack. For a trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76050 which is a custom fit that installs using pre drilled holes in the frame rails. This option is cost effective and is fairly easy to install...

The Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack part # TH912XTR is an excellent option for your 2016 Nissan Rogue. It is cost effective, easy to use, and has a lifetime warranty. It will however interfere with the view for your backup camera but this is more or less unavoidable with any rack due to the position of the camera on the vehicle in regards to the position of the trailer hitch receiver. However, the bike rack only weighs around 30 lbs and it can be removed with a single bolt so taking it off the...

That said, if you are interested in adding locks then the Thule Apex XT 4 Bike Rack part # TH9025XT is a better option as you not only get a hitch lock with anti-rattle but also integrated bike locks. But since we offer these adapter bars from many makers we can find one for you that will better fit the 20-inch span on your wife's bike. Instead you can use the Kuat Ubar # UB01, the Hollywood Racks # HRBA-PRO or the SportRack # SR0500. All of these can accommodate the 20-inch spacing.

The swing away function gives you full access to your cargo area even when the bikes are loaded. As you alluded to, the bike adapter bars are all different lengths. The SportRack Bike Frame Adapter Bar part # SR0500 can go as short as 15-1/4".
