Hitch for 2017 Volkswagen Golf to Use Yakima EXO SwingBase 2 Tier Swing Away Hitch Extender

Hi - I have a Draw-tite 1 1/4inch trailer hitch on my vehicle with a 200 lb tongue weight. If I add a 1 1/4inch to 2inch adapter Item HT5R which reduces available tongue weight capacity of my hitch from 200 lbs to 100 lbs, does that negate my ability to use the full upper and lower Yakima EXO system? Am I better to replace the 1 1/4 inch hitch with a 2inch hitch? Thank you.

Using a hitch adapter does cut the capacity of the hitch it's installed in by 50 percent so yes you'd need to go to w 2 inch hitch for your 2017 Volkswagen Golf like with the # 306-X7315 to use the full upper and lower Yakima Exo system part # Y82VR.
