Question:

I have a sprinter van with outside spare tire. Would like a purchase a swing away 2 bike rack. Does this need to have some kind of extension to clear the spare?

I have a measurement that will help you to determine if you are going to be able to use the Yakima EXO Swing Away 2-Bike Rack # Y92VR behind your Sprinter van with the spare tire mounted on the rear door. From the center of the hitch pin hole on the rack to the front arm that lifts to secure your bike is 11". If your spare tire sticks out further than this from the hitch pin center hole you will need the Extension # Y69VR which will add 7-1/4" to the length. This is the only extension approved for use on the EXO system from Yakima.
