Question:
This BDW10039 look to be everything that I am looking for in a winch for my 10,000 lb. gooseneck car trailer, but I am stumped on how to mount it. My trailer has provisions for a winch but the winch plate is recessed see photo. The opening is 16inch by 25inch and the mounting plate is recessed 2inch from the trailer deck. The mounting plate itself is only half the opening size 8inch x 25inch looking down through the opening, but has an additional 2inch undercut towards the front of the trailer. So the plate is actually 10inch x 25inch but only 9inch x 25inch through the opening because of the recessed 2. It appears that this 12K Bulldog winch is designed to be mounted flush to the trailer deck. Do you have a suggestion as to how it could be mounted to the recessed plate on my trailer? I can not find any physical dimensions or mounting pattern for this winch on your site or Bulldogs site. Thanks in advance for the help.

The Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch # BDW10039 is 24" long x 7-1/4" wide x 7-1/4" tall so it will have no issues fitting on your recessed plate on your trailer. The winch includes a mounting plate that is 20" long and 7-3/8" wide. It has mounting holes for the winch of 10" x 4-1/2" and additional holes at 13" x 6-1/8" for mounting the plate to the trailer. You should have no issues fitting the winch to your recessed mounting plate.
My biggest concern is the steel wire rope rubbing on the corner of the trailer deck while it is brought in and out. I recommend using some steel brackets to hold the included roller fairlead on the top deck of the trailer to guide the wire rope and prevent it from rubbing on the trailer. You can then use a Hawse Fairlead # BDW20003 on the winch to guide the wire rope at the winch.
