When I am driving the digital readout flashes with a small zero and the number 9. The unit seems to work as it should just this random code. Your help would be appreciated.

Though all the info I have will be for the American market controller Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160, it looks like the error codes will be the same for the Australian market controller Guardian IQ.
So with that being said, the error you are getting looks to be caused by losing the connection to the battery ground. This is typically an easy fix as you just need to check you connections and tighten everything down. Once this is done, you should be good to go.
