Hitch Bike Rack Recommendation For 2018 Chevy Volt Carrying A Carbon Bike

Question:

interested in 3 models using a 1.25inch hitch. Primary concern is making sure whichever model has a secure/firm fit at the hitch so no bouncing or movement when driving. Considering 3 models:is Sportrack Pathway Delux 3 bike - like the simplicity but concerned bike is held by one point of contact which may stress the frame of my carbon frame bike ...particularly should the hitch connection not be firm? Hollywood Commute 2 bike - two point U frame bike hold down would seem to be a better connection than above, price good, but is it built as good as the Saris below? Saris Pathway Deluxe 3 - have perception Saris is high quality but not sure if rack height on this model is adjustable - picture shows an upward arch frame and concerned it will create an aerodynamic drag if bike sitting high in relation to roof line. Drive a 2018 Chevy Volt. Appreciate your feedback

I would not use the Sportrack Pathway Deluxe 3 or the Hollywood Racks Commuter 2 Bike Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting, part # HR2500, with a carbon framed bicycle. Neither of these racks have anti-sway cradles. My choice would be the Saris Bones Hitch 3 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting - Steel, part # SA883. I would also take extra precaution and get something to protect the frame at the contact points of the frame, like old inner tubes. As for the upward arch, it is not so pronounced that it will sit super high relative to the roof of your vehicle, so I do not think aerodynamic drag will be an issue.

A bike hitch platform rack would be a better solution since it will not touch the frame of your carbon bike.
