The Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller # C51170 will definitely fit your 2018 Chevy Colorado Z71. There is not a plug under the dash, but the wires are run, making the install pretty easy. The # C51515 will attach directly to these wires and will then plug directly into the back of the # C51170.
If you do not have 7 Way on the back of the vehicle, I suggest the Hopkins Multi-Tow 7-Way Blade and 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM11141144.
