Troubleshooting A Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch that Won't Couple

Question:

When hooking up my 5th wheel I can get half way into the hitch with the kiing pin and then it stops. I switched from using a lube plate to just using grease could it be that it is not lubed enough or do you have any other suggestions

If you're having issues coupling to your Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 18,000lbs the jaws could need to be greased but it could also be the handle or the internal springs. When pulling the handle back to put the head in coupling mode you should hear it click. You'll also want to make sure the king pin is coming in level to the hitch head. If being level, ensuring the lock handle is properly in coupling mode, and the jaws being greased doesn't fix your issue then you most likely have a broken or worn spring and will need to reach out to Demco for replacement parts.
