Question:
I have a 96 GMC Sierra XLE 2 door short bed with dual exhaust - will this tow hitch fit my truck?

Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15325 is confirmed to fit your 1996 GMC Sierra XLE as long as you have either the standard or step bumper. It will not fit if your GMC has a roll pan, or deep drop bumper.
For a deep drop bumper Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15317 is the one I recommend.
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13942 will fit with a roll pan rear bumper of 1500 series trucks.
You will need a Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # 41125 to give you a 4-way flat for towing small trailers and using auxiliary lights on a bike carrier or cargo carrier that blocks the view of your taillights.
For larger trailers that use electric brakes a Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 will upgrade the 4-way flat to a 7-way blade connection. The additional wiring and circuit breakers are also included for installing a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195. This brake controller can control up to 4 braking axles and is proportional. So it will automatically adjust the trailer output for light or heavy braking based on how hard the vehicle is stopping.
