Trailer Hitch Cover Light Stays On with 1-Year-Old Curt Trailer Wiring Harness on a Jeep Compass

Question:

I have a jeep compass, I installed a curt wing harness about a year ago. Today I see the hitch cover light is staying on but not the vehicle lights. Could it be a bad converter?

Over time, the trailer wiring harness you have installed could have gotten corrosion or moisture on the contacts, pins, ground, or even in the converter. What I recommend is to go over all of the connection points, make sure they are cleaned out, check the wiring for any nicks and repair as needed. Make sure the 4-Way end is free of corrosion and that the grounds are still firmly attached to bare metal.

If you do all of this and still have the problem then it is likely that the problem is inside the converter and it will need to be replaced.
