How does a person change the leg return spring that runs vertically inside the leg ?

The return spring inside the Bulldog Square Jacks like part # BD182800 are neither replaceable nor repairable according to Bulldog. Therefore, so you will have to replace the entire jack if yours is broken or damaged.
