Specs:
Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Erickson Car Tie-down with Ratchet and Twisted Snap Hooks. This heavy-duty tie-down strap lets you secure a vehicle or equipment on your truck bed or trailer. You can use this with an axle strap to secure the tie-down to your vehicle's axle. Axle straps are sold separately and available at etrailer.com. This unit features the sturdy ratchet mechanism that helps you achieve and maintain maximum tension on your strap. It has a nice large release lever right here which disengages the ratchet when you're ready to unload, so that allows you to release the tension of the strap. The ratcheting mechanism is very easy to use.
Right now it's in the stowed or travel position, so to move it to the ratcheting position, you lift up on the release lever, put it in this middle position. That's going to allow you to ratchet which is going to allow you to take out any slack in the strap and get it tight over or around your gear, whatever it is that you're using it for. And then when you're ready to unload your gear, you take the release lever, open the ratchet all the way up, and then pull right here on the hook end, and that's going to allow the strap to feed through. That way you can loosen the tension, and you can unload your gear.Overall, it's a really nice design. It's easy to use.
Nice large ratchet mechanism gives you plenty of room right there to get your hand in there even if you have gloves on, and on the ends we have the twisted snap hooks. This is the twist design. This provides quick, secure connection to your axle strap or other anchor point. We have the built-in safety latches, spring-loaded, to help prevent accidental disconnecting, and the twisted design helps keep the strap laying flat. The strap is blue in color.
It's made from a durable polyester webbing, and then on the steel components we have that yellow decrement-plated steel design to help resist rust and corrosion. This does meet Department of Transportation standards. When it comes to dimensions, our strap measures two inches wide by seven feet long. Has a safe working load limit of 3,300 pounds, a maximum load or break strength rating of 10,000 pounds. Just keep in mind that tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit, so the weight of your secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps being used. That's going to do it for today's look at the Erickson Car Tie-Down with Ratchet and Twisted Snap Hooks.
Ratings & Reviews
I purchased one at first just to try it to see if it would do what I needed. Turns out this product worked great so, I got another! I'm using these straps to tie my car down on my trailer when we go camping. Easy to use, great product. Thanks.
Just what I wanted. After trailering for 30 years, I needed some new tie downs and these are just what the doctor ordered. Perfect. Heavy duty, well made, strong and top quality. A good value.
I was hoping the axle strap had the outer sheathe to prevent damage. They do not. Made in China. They look okay. I have them holding a Tacoma on my trailer right now. Taking it for a multi state run soon. Too early to give a durability review. They didn't seem to stretch on a local test run.
Best purchase I have made to secure my vehicles to my trailer. Easy to use and really holds the car in place!! No need to crawl under the vehicle and the ratchet mechnism stays far away from the vehicle. Excellent product for low clearance cars!!! I would highly recommend them to others!!
Good products and service.
The Erickson Axel Strap system works very well for holding down the rear of the car during short or long distances. I highly recommend this product to anyone!
Used 4 of these to tie down my jeep wrangler by the axles to a trailer. Towed it 3,000 miles across the country, they held up well especially over the steep inclines and declines in Utah and through Tahoe.
Tie down kits and axle straps were a perfect fit for securing my classic car in the trailer. Exactly what was ordered.
Great products and excellent service
Great stuff good prices!
I have not had a chance to hook them up and use them, however they seem to be high quality and I look forward to using them.
I love these tie-downs
My 3rd set of these Erickson tie-downs. Great product.
They work really well, just wish they were a 1-2 foot longer, as the ones i had before were longer and worked better for my tractor reaching my rear D hooks on my trailer.
Strong, convenient straps . Hooks stay in place in D rings, use for securing loader to trailer. Works great.
Good price, fast shipping
Will order again
I was so disappointed when my tie-downs arrived and saw where "Erickson" had finally took the cheap way out and outsourced their manufacturing to China. If I had known they had known this I would have ordered the same thing at half the price. I thought I was paying double for good ol' American made quality. Now I get the pleasure of knowing my valuable show car is being held on the trailer by straps made by someone making a dollar a day, that could care less about the quality of their product. Please note that I am being critical of Erickson and not etrailer. I was very pleased with the service I recieved from etrailer and will buy from them again. It's just we hardly make anything in this country anymore and trust me the quality from this overseas junk is just not up to par with "Made in America"!! I am thankful we have a President who is trying his best to fix this problem. We have become a "throwaway society" which addicted to purchasing cheap junk. When it comes to tie-down straps I don't want Chinese junk. thanks
Works as we wanted it to.
I’ve only given 4 stars on the ratchet straps so far since I had just received these today. I had purchased these due to its extra strength and latching hooks. These are definitely an upgrade over any I can buy locally. I use these to strap over each tire on our utv to the d-rings mounted to the floor of the trailer. These are 7’ long which is more than sufficient to reach over the tires and not having to tie and untie 10’-12’ extra tail strap. The construction is what sold me to purchase these straps for 2k round trip travels to Colorado.
Haven’t tried them yet. Well built
