If you're wanting to get the Adarac Aluminum M-Series ladder rack, this one # AD56FR is the custom fit item for your 2020 GMC Sierra. One thing to keep in mind is that since it does not extend over the cab of your truck, you will most likely have to use an extender like this # TH997 because there isn't much room between the front bar and the cab of your truck.

To avoid that, you can get a ladder rack that sits up higher like this Adarac # A4003493 which is taller, allowing you to hang your kayak and SUPs over the cab of the truck.

If it were me, I would want both. If you got the Yakima OverHaul # Y01151-58 you can adjust it to be tall and short as needed. It's the best of both worlds and it looks the best out of all out ladder racks in my opinion. The nice thing about the OverHaul is that you have tie downs in the sides of the bars which make it easy to secure the equipment down.

I would keep it simple and use these pads # MPG314 to put on your bars. Simple, yet it protects your equipment from getting damaged. Grab one set of these straps # e36ZR for each kayak or SUP you plan on hauling. It comes with everything you need!

In regards to theft, the ladder rack will have locks on it so that's not going anywhere, It does have spots on each side to run a cable lock # e98891 through so you can secure your kayak and SUP. That's the best way to deter theft.
