I went ahead and reached out to my contact at Hughes, and he confirmed that the Hughes Autoformers Rain Cover for 50-Amp Voltage Boosters # HU88FR does not need to be removed unless the voltage booster is in extreme heat in the direct sun. All Hughes autoformers and Power Watchdogs will work in the cold and temperatures up to 130 degrees with no issue.
