Comparing Curt and Reese Hitch Mounted Cargo Carriers

Question:
Just wanted to know if there are any advantages to either the Curt Cargo Carrier C18152 or the Reese Cargo Carrier 63153. Take into consideration rust resistant, strong welds, reliability and customer support from the manufacturer. Also how reliable are the fold up versions of each of these. I have heard they can rattle a lot on bumpy roads. Thanks

Expert Reply:
The 24x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches, part # C18152, and the 24x60 Reese Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches, part # 63153, are extremely similar. In fact, in terms of the specs that you mentioned, neither stands above the other.
I only recommend the Curt over the Reese because the rails are 3" taller, allowing you to have more options in what you can carry.
As for foldable baskets, they are reliable. For example, the Curt Folding Carrier, part # C18151, has fantastic reviews from our neighbors.
If you want to reduce rattle, you can use an anti-rattle pin like the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches, part # 63232. It reduces the play in the receiver that causes rattle. I've linked to a video review of this below.
