Can 24 inch Wide Cargo Bag Fit on 20 inch Wide Cargo Carrier

Published 11/24/2025

Question:

My hitch carrier is 60 - 20. Good for 500 lbs. Can I use a 20 cubic feet bag? They are 24 wide where my carrier is around 20. There seems to be a big difference in the size of the 20 ones which are around 46 long. I know they can likely be squeezed in there. Your thoughts?

Hey Mark, you can go with a slightly wider cargo bag than your carrier and it will be just fine. You'd just need to strap the bag down and take up the extra material which wouldn't even be that much different than a bag that is exact same dimensions. I am not sure exactly what part number you are looking at but based on what you mentioned I would assume it's the part # 988501 which is 20 cubic feet and measures 59 x 24 x 24 inch.

Yup. That's the size I would be interested in. I figured it would work but was looking for confirmation. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Mark
