The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 36297 is a Class II, 1-1/4" receiver that fits your 2002 Volvo V70 XC. Currently there are no Class III 2" Receivers for your Volvo. This receiver has a maximum tongue weight rating of 300lbs and towing capacity of 3,500lbs. Be sure that you do not exceed the maximum rating given from Volvo for your V70 XC.
I recommend the Curt Upgraded Circuit Protected Powered Tail Light Converter # C59496 if you are going to pull a trailer or will need to use Auxiliary Lights # C53201. This powered convertor limits the amount of power that is pulled from your factory harness making it safer to use with the vehicles electrical system.
The Buyers Products Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter # HTAD can be used to convert the 1-1/4" receiver to accept a 2" hitch mounted accessory. The adapter can only support 50% of the hitches weight so it will only work with accessories under 150lbs on your Volvo.
