Question:
Reliability of mobile home axle on utility trailer to haul 700 lb 4 wheeler

Expert Reply:
Mobile home axles like what you have on your utility trailer are designed for one time use and really should not be used on a utility trailer.
Your best bet is to replace the axle with one built for a RV/Trailer. You will need to measure the hub face to hub face measurement of your current axle, the spring center to spring center measurement, and the weight capacity of the axle.
For example the Dexter Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 60" Long - 2,000 lbs # 20545I-ST-60-10 is a 2000lb axle that has a hub face to hub face measurement of 60", and a spring center to spring center measurement of 48" as shown in the included diagram.
If this matches your current axle this would be a great option for you.
If you find your axle is a different size or you need a higher weight capacity just let me know.
I included a video of the # 20545I-ST-60-10 for you to take a look at.
