Rate your transcript OrderClientKevin BrossRef #20628Order #TC0875094945 Today we're going to review part number 20545iST-60-10. This is the Dexter Trailer Axle with the standard spindles. Comes with the Idler Hubs with a 5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern. Axle is 60" long and has a 2,000 lbs weight capacity. Now this part would include everything showing here on the top of the table. This part includes the axle, the two idler hubs, inner, outer bearings. It does include the bearing races, they're actually already pre-installed into the hubs themselves.

Comes with the grease seals, the dust caps, the half inch lug nuts and also a container of the marine-grade wheel bearing grease. Now this axle beam will act as a part of your trailer's suspension system. You can use this to replace an axle on your trailer or you can use it to fabricate a suspension that will fit to your specific application. It is made of a high-strength steel. Now the design on this axle, if you notice here the spring seats welded to underside of axle. This is where your leaf springs would mount to. Because they're to the underside, this is called the Underslung design axle.

That type of design will give you a nice low ride height. It will make it easier to load and unload your trailer. If you notice on each end it does have the straight spindles. There's no drop spindle to it. It is a standard grease application.

It does come with the castle nut and the cutter pin. Now when we do ship this, we do protect each end. The way we do that is you'll see the machined area where the spindle is. That would be covered with a coating of grease. Then bubble wrap around that and then that we use this very heavy duty corrugated tube that would slide over the very end. Then be wrapped with tape to protect it.

When it's shipped, it'll have cover, it'll have this two being on both ends to protect it from any damage. The spring seats are welded on, the spindles are already welded on. Now on these axles and trailer axles you might notice, it might be hard to see in this video but actually there is a bend in the center of the axle. The axle will actually go up and then down. This bend will create a zero camber angle to give you even road-to-tread contact across the width of your trailer's tires. Basically when this is on the trailer, you load your trailer down, that heavy weight on that trailer would actually sort of push down on that. Sort of even out that axle. This will ensure that the angle of the wheels that are on you trailer will be correct for your towing needs. This will help us for our straight-line acceleration and steady, controlled towing. Now the two idler hubs that comes with, they are very sturdy and durable. They are a cast iron, made of cast iron. They do have a bolt pattern of a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. The wheel studs themselves are a 1/2" diameter, so they do use the included half inch by 20 lug nuts. Now the size of this idler hub will use a wheel size of 8" to 10". Basically on the hub itself, as I mentioned the bearing races are all pre-installed. The bearings, the inner and outer are actually the same number. The outer bearing would go right in there. Inner bearing would drop right in the back there. Then your grease seal which is included would be tapped in to hold that into place. Then once you get it all installed, you can use this dust cap that taps in over the outside there. Then the final thing is once you put your wheels and tires on, you just attached them down using this half inch by 20 lug nuts. Now on the axle itself, the axle has 2,000 lbs weight capacity. The tubing outer diameter right here is 1-3/4". The spindle diameter is 1-1/16". Now on the axle itself there are multiple ways that you can measure the length of an axle beam. The two most accurate are going to be hub-face-to-hub-face and spring-center-to-spring-center. We're going to show you both of those measurements. Now the hub-face-to-hub-face would actually be once your hubs are already installed on each end. You measure that by measuring from the base of one wheel stud down the axle down to the base of the wheel stud on the opposite side of the axle. I do have an . A measuring tape here so I'm going to give you an idea. I dont have the hubs on it but just to give you and idea when they're place on there. This will get you a hub-face-to-hub-face measure of right at 60". Now the spring-center-to-spring-center length, that is going to be measured from the center of this spring seat to the center of the spring seat there. Now this I can give you and exact measurement. Actually that measurement will also give you the approximate width of the trailer that this would be on. If we go center to center, you can see 48" spring-center-to-spring-center length. Basically if you're replacing your trailer's axle. You should be able to figure out which type you need by just determining your trailer's capacity. The bolt pattern of the wheels. The break type, if it uses breaks. Then the two length I mentioned, the hub face and spring center lengths. That should do it for the review on part number 20545i-ST-60-10.
