Question:
Hello, Can you please provide information regarding the complete list of parts/equipment required to flat tow my 2008 Smart forTwo behind my RV? I was looking at the following: Demco Delta Force brake system Part #SM99242 Blue Ox Base Plate Kit #1987 Etrailer Tow Bar #e47ZR Will these items work on my toad? What other parts will I need to complete the install? Do you recommend a hitch receiver adapter due to the height of the toad? In short, I need a complete list of items to flat tow my car. Any assistance you can provide is appreciated.

All of your choices for flat towing will work with your 2008 Smart Fortwo.
Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates - RV Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000lbs Item # e47ZR
Tow Bar Wiring: Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit Item # RM-154. This wiring harness is a one time setup so you won't have to run magnetic lights to the back of the vehicle every time you want to flat tow.
Base Plates: Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # BX1987.
Braking System: Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. This braking system will work but will require the 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps Item # RM-9332. To keep your vehicle's battery charged while towing you can install the BrakeBuddy Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Kit Item # BB54FR.
Safety Cables: The tow bar you chose comes with safety cables so you won't have to buy any separately.
Since there is a bit of a height difference there a high/low adapter may be needed. You'll want to:
1. Measure the height from the center of your hitch pin hole on the RV to the ground.
2. Measure the distance from the center of your dinghy's draw bar arms (when installed in frame brackets) to the ground.
3. A - B = C: Subtract the difference (A - B). If there is more than a 3-inch difference, a hitch adapter is needed.
Once you know the amount of rise/drop needed you can choose the correct adapter from the attached high/low adapter page. If you need help finding the correct one just reply back with the measurement you need and I can find it for you.
