Question:
Hello. I have a brand new unit that is not hooked up yet. i thought i would test it before installing and wiring. the test button activates the green fully charged unit but i do not get any power out of it when a test light is placed between the end of the black wire coming directly from the battery and the end of the white wire coming directly from the battery. Bothe wires are connected securely to the battery terminals and green circuit boardcharger. There is power when the test light is connected directly to the battery terminals Thanks.

From what you are describing, it sounds like you received a defective unit. Unfortunately there are not replacement circuit boards available, which does sound like where the issue is, so the whole box will need to be replaced. The Hopkins Replacement Box # HM20121 will get you all squared away, no pun intended.
That being said, these have a 90 day warranty and this will definitely be covered. If this was purchased from etrailer.com, give our customer service a call at 1-800-298-8924 and we can get you taken care of. If it was not purchased through us, you will need to contact the place it was procured from to get the needed warranty info.
