Question:
I would like to upgrade my fifth wheel toy hauler to a disk brake system from drum brakes. Would you be able to help me make sure I get the correct kit? I haven’t made a decision on which brand I would like to go with if you wouldn’t mind supplying part numbers for both DeeMaxx and Hrdyastar? I think I’m leaning towards the Hydro star because I like the steel brake lines instead of the hoses that Dee Maxx has. I have attached a picture of the axle serial number for one of the axles. The fifth wheel hasdual 7000 pound axles and the wheels are eight lug. Thanks!!!

Hey Butch, thanks for the picture of your axle tag. The Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator for Tandem Axle Trailers item # HSE7K-T1 is exactly what you need. These rotors will fit your 7,000 lbs Lippert axles perfectly. They have 1/2" lug studs and a 8 on 6-1/2 lug pattern. They work with 16" and 16-1/2" wheels and come with everything you need to convert your electric drum brakes to hydraulic disc.
The equivalent DeeMaxx setup would be their Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator for Tandem Axle Trailers item # DE66AR.
If you're worried about the brake lines I would go with the DeeMaxx item # DE66AR over the Hydrastar item # HSE7K-T1. Their main lines are reenforced flexible rubber brake lines whereas Hydrastar's are copper-nickel alloy. Deemaxx is better for corrosion resistance and the flexible lines along with the swivel brass fittings are easier to install.
What size wheels are on your 5th wheel trailer? Also what kind of brake controller do you have in your tow vehicle and if it's a factory one what year, make, and model is your truck?
You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

I have 16” wheels and tow with a 2019 Ford F250 W/ the 6.7L Diesel. Honestly, I’m not the biggest fan of the long hoses on the DeeMaxx system. I think I would prefer the solid lines.
