Question:
Ive got a 2020 Audi Q7 Premium Plus with the factory-installed tow package that I use to tow a travel trailer and a boat. I bought the Curt Echo and it doesnt power on nor can I connect to it when its only plugged into the vehicle. As soon as I plug the campers 7 pin into the Echo, it powers on and connects. When I hook it up to the boat trailer, it doesnt power on or connect. I know the Echo is supposed to draw power from the vehicle, but it seems to be drawing power or not from whatever Im towing. Is that accurate? And, if so, how do I get a boat trailer that doesnt have a power source to connect so I can use and control the trailers brakes?

Your 2020 Audi Q7 has a trailer mode and will only send power through the 7-way charge line when it senses a trailer that requires 12v power is connected. This is why the Curt Echo # C51180 will only start to receive power on your camper when the 7-way is plugged in.
If your boat trailer uses an electric brake system there should be a breakaway battery that is tied to the 7-way charge line that will ensure the battery is kept charged. If you do not have a breakaway battery and do have electric brakes the Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802308 should be added to your boat trailer. If you do already have a battery I recommend checking that the battery is connected to the 7-way and the battery is still capable of holding a charge/charging.
