Question:
Gentlemen Have fifth wheel with 4000 lb Dexter torsion axles..brakes need replacement.. brakes are non auto adjust with green wire magnets.. Looking for self adjusting, trailer 2016 model and just had it weighed And loaded there is 7600 lbs on the two axles.. Question ,are the 3500lb brakes adequate as that is what mfg installed or is there an upgrade that you would recommend that will fit and give a little added braking for the axles.. Thank you

With you having 4,000 pound torsion axles, you will need to double check something before moving forward. Though both of these options will measure 10 x 2 1/4 inches, there is a big difference between them.
The etrailer.com Self-Adjusting # AKEBRK-35-SA will have a bolt pattern of 2 7/8 inches from center to center of all 4 bolt when moving around them in a clockwise manner. You can also go center to center of 2 bolts diagonally to get 4 inches. These are rated to 3,500 pounds per axle and as long as they match your bolt pattern, will be the ones I recommend.
If they do not match that pattern, you may need to go with the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust # K23-478-479. These are also 10 x 2 1/4 inch brakes, but the bolt pattern is quite a bit different. The top bolts will measure 2 7/8 inches, but the sides will measure 3 inches from center to center and the bottom bolts will measure 3 1/4 inches from center to center.
