Question:
I can’t get the pin back in the breakaway key box the battery is dead on my trailer do I need to hook up power to put it back in

Sometimes the pins of the breakaway switches get damaged and they won't reinsert like what you are experiencing. What your best option would be is an all new breakaway switch like part # HM20010 which will easily install in place of what you have now and will get you back on the road. The switch does not need to have power to reinsert the pin.
