2021 Chevy Trailblazer LED diode wiring

Updated 04/21/2021 | Published 04/15/2021

Question:

Not sure I get how the LED diodes wired into this system. The new Trailblazer AWD RS has separate LED tail and brake lights, and an incandescent turn signal lamp. The car wiring harness coming back to the rear of the car contains a variety of wires, none of which seem be standard based on internet searches I have found. After pulling the tail light assembly, I found red/green/black wires going from the factory wiring harness connector to the tail and brake lights circuit board, and yellow/black and white wires going to the signal lamp see the picture. Same wire configuration on both sides. Voltmeter shows red brings power to the LED brake light and green works the LED tail/running light, with black being a ground. If I cut the red between the light assembly and the main wiring harness connector and the red wires into the car brakes in and out connections on the diode, will the LED brake lights now act as brake, turn, and tail lights?

Using the Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights Item # RM38FR you'll want to cut the diodes in just before the the twist-lock to the LED and another just before the incandescent bulb. The point of the diode is to stop power from reversing and damaging the wire behind it so being closer to the bulbs will help save wire in the event that there is a power surge. Hooking up diodes to your car will not cause the LED or signal lamp to act any differently.

I've attached a video that goes over installation for you as well.
