Does The Inno Kayak Lifter Load Assist Work With J-Style Kayak Carriers?

Question:

Have the Yakima J style mounts on a Honda Civic Hatchback. The kayak is mounted standing on its side, not flat as shown in the video. Will it still work without being cumbersome to rotate into position? Thanks

The Inno Kayak Lifter Load Assist - Clamp On - Side Loading - 90 lbs # INA453 will work just fine on crossbars that already have a J-style kayak carrier installed. Since the Inno Load Assist mounts on the side of the crossbars, it will not interfere with the kayak carrier.

You will just want to make sure your crossbars have a spread of 27-39"; crossbar spread is the distance between each crossbar, measuring from the center of each bar. You will also want to make sure your crossbars are no taller than 1-1/8" and no wider than 3-1/2". Lastly, you will want to make sure you have at least 2" of crossbar overhang which is required for use of this load assist. If these measurements match up then you are all set to use the load assist.
