Can Brake Away Switch Cable Included W/ Blue Ox Patriot Braking System Be Extended?

Question:

Hi etrailer team, i need to extend our existing brake way cable in order to mount the breakaway clip in the desired location. I only need about 3 more feet. My question is can I just use any 16 gauge wire with end connectors to make the extension? Or do you sell an extension for this cable?

I have another option for you, but the Breakaway Cable for Blue Ox Patriot Proportional Braking Systems that was included with your Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR at cannot be extended as that will void the warranty of the cable and braking system if something were to go wrong. When I reached out to Blue Ox about this they mentioned that there was not a longer cable available.

With that said, we have installed the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR in a 2015 Ford F-150 and had plenty of cable to complete the installation.

On your 2016 Ford F-150 I recommend relocating your brake away switch in a location that works with the cable.

I included a video of the # BLU37TR being installed on the 2015 Ford F-150 mentioned to show you where we mounted the break away switch.
