Troubleshooting Curt Round Spring Back Stuck In Weight Distribution Head

Question:

cant detach curt round head spring bars from hitch on my 2019 Chev Colorado using curt part 17109 retainer clips

To remove the round bars on your Curt Weight Distribution Hitch you will need to slightly lift up on the spring bar to remove the clip included in the Curt retainer Clips # 17109 and then pull out on the retaining pin on the hitch head.

Now if the spring bars were not greased regularly it is possible they may have a bit of rust and corrosion holding them in and you may need to have another person pull down on the bar while you are pulling out on the retaining pin.

When reinstalling the spring bars you will want to a good amount of grease to the spring bar section that goes in the hitch head, and occasionally add more grease using a grease gun through the zerk fitting.
