Can Two Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carriers Be Mounted On A 2015 Subaru Forester Roof?

Question:

Hi, I purchased 2 thule hullavators last November from etrailer. I have a 2015 Subaru Forester and would like to be able to transport 2 kayaks. I do have the side rails. I need to know what length cross bars I need and also the attachments that are needed. Thank you.

The Thule Hullavator Pro - Lift Assist Kayak Carrier # TH898 requires about 28-1/2" of crossbar space and also requires the crossbars to overhang at least 4" on each side. Aside from that, the Hullavator weighs 40lbs each. It is not recommended to try and use two Hullavators on one roof.

I recommend using one Hullavator for one kayak, and then for the other kayak use the Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs - J-Style - Folding - Side Loading # MPG114MD. The Malone DownLoader only weighs about 12lbs and has a weight capacity of 75lbs. This can clamp onto crossbars or be mounted on the top track by using Aero Style Crossbar T-Slot Fit Kit for Malone Kayak Carriers # MPG8287.

For a roof rack that will accommodate your two kayaks, I recommend looking into Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars - Raised, Factory Side Rails - Aluminum - 58" Long # MPG216. This is a very affordable but useful option as it is 58" long which is long enough for your application. The weight capacity for this setup is 165lbs. The has the top channel which allows the kayak carriers and other accessories to be easily installed. I attached demonstration videos for you.
