Will the 2-Wire RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector Work for Butane
Updated 03/02/2021 | Published 02/25/2021 >
Question:
I want to use this on a boat and I have a one burner butane stove like they use at an omelet station. I wondered if it would detect butane fumes? Also, do you know how many amps or watts this draws?

Expert Reply:
The 2-Wire RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector part # RS54FR is not designed for butane but I spoke with the manufacturer and they said if the levels are high enough it will detect this and signal an alarm. The power draw is minimal, 17mA.
