How To Setup And Install The Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch AM3200

Question:
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 long bed. Does it matter which way the hitch base sets in the bed of my truck? Ive seen pics with it positioned forward and some backward position. Also on the fifth-wheel hitch that clamps to the kingpin, I seen pics with some forward position and behind the kingpin, does this matter? Thanks

Per the instructions, the 3200 Andersen Manufacturing Ultimate 5th-Wheel Connection # AM3200 should be installed with the ball closest to the tailgate on a short bed. The ball should be installed closest to the cab of the truck when used with a standard or long bed truck.
You will need to take a few measurements to determine which way to install the kingpin adapter. First measure from inside the bed-side rail to the center of the 5th wheel ball. Also measure from inside the tailgate to the center of the 5th wheel ball. Next, with the kingpin adapter installed onto your pin box in the forward position, measure from the center of the adapter's ball socket to the rear of the trailer’s pin box. This measurement should be SHORTER than the two measurements you took of the ball to tailgate and ball to bed-side. If it is shorter, then continue with the adapter facing forward. If this measurement is LONGER than the two measurements in the truck bed, then switch the adapter around to have it facing backwards.
I have attached a demonstration video for this product, along with a photo of the instructions that will help with this situation.
