Recommended Bolt On Actuator to Replace Old Atwood Drum Brake Actuator
Updated 02/08/2021 | Published 02/04/2021 >
Question:
Hello, I have 1990 TI boat trailer that has the old style Atwood drum brake actuator that is shot. I know there is no replacement parts so I need to replace the actuator. I have read that you guys recommend a titan with manual lock out. The current actuator is a straight tongue weld on 6000 lb GVWR, maximum young load 15 of GVWR 2 inch ball. I would like a bolt on style. Can you please tell me what would be best and the Cleanest install. Thanks

The Titan Brake Actuator with Manual Lockout - Bolt On - Drum - 2" Ball - 7,500 lbs # T63FR is going to be the best solution to replace your old Atwood actuator and is going to give you a nice, clean installation. This actuator is for 3" wide straight tongues, has a 750-lbs tongue weight capacity and is designed for 2" hitch balls, so it's got everything you should need.
I'll also note that neither of these actuators come with mounting hardware, but it is recommended that you use 1/2" x 4-1/2" Grade-5 bolts, which you'll need to source locally to install these.
I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to check out, as well.
