Question:
Hello: Trying to decide between the Eco Hitch and the more expensive Stealth Hitch for a 2018 BMW X5 diesel M sport. Primarily towing but occasional bike rack. Like the extra capacity on the Stealth but not crazy about the extra $ and the inability to use a standard receiver hitch for towing. Could want to add brake controller in future which I assume can be added on Stealth in future? Which is higher quality? Your thoughts?

Assuming that your vehicle has the M Sport trim package but isn't the M or the M performance model, both the EcoHitch # EH44FR for vehicles with a back up sensor or # 306-X7265 for vehicles without the back up sensor and the Stealth # SH85VR would work great for your X5.
If the 5000 lb capacity of the EcoHitch would accomplish your needs, there's really no reason not to go with the EcoHitch. Both EcoHitch and Stealth have great reputations for their excellent quality, and as you said, if you go with the EcoHitch option, you won't need the special ball mount for towing. I'd put both EcoHitch and the Stealth hitch in the same neighborhood in terms of quality.
If you go with the EcoHitch, you'd use # C56190KIT for a trailer wiring harness. You could indeed add a brake controller in the future, a wireless option like the Curt Echo, part # C51180 is easy to use and simple to install. If you use the EcoHitch, along with the # TK47FR harness mentioned above, you'd use the # ETBC7L install kit which plugs into the 4-pin trailer connector provided by the # TK47FR, and converts it to a 7-way connector.
I've linked to a video explaining how the # C51180 Curt Echo wireless brake controller works.
