Question:
I need about a 5 inch drop, It appears that the kit shank only permits a bit more than a 2 inch drop. Is there another compatible shank that I can purchase with the required drop? Also, can you confirm that this hitch can be used on a top mounted coupler on 2x6 frame?

There are shanks with the drop you need that are compatible with the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System with Sway Control # RP66558.
Weight distribution shanks are interchangeable so what you can use is the Curt Weight Distribution Shank # C17121.
This shank has a maximum of 7 inches of drop with a trunnion bar system like the Steadi-Flex so it's exactly what you need. Additionally, the Steadi-Flex is compatible with your 2 x 6 frame and top-mounted coupler, so the only other thing you will need is a hitch ball, with the size of it depending on your trailer coupler. You will need either the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # C40005 or 2" Hitch Ball # 63845.
I have added some links below to video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like.
