Coil SumoSprings Helping Sag On 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon

Updated 12/28/2020 | Published 12/22/2020

Question:

I have confirmed with the manufacturer that coil SumoSprings CSS-1125 fit my 2020 Subaru Outback. I am trying to address the 3 inch sag that I get when towing with a 280 pound tongue weight. The max on this vehicle is 350. As is my headlights are shining in the trees. Can you give me an idea of how much of an improvement I should see using the coil SumoSprings?

The SumoSprings # CSS-1125 will help your front and back suspension from sagging as much on your 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon. Putting these on the rear axle will help your suspension from compressing as much which in turn will help your front end from raising up so bad. I understand this because when I tow a trailer that's heavy and/or uneven I hate having people flash their lights at me when I'm going down the road! I know I can't help it but they don't know that. This makes me uncomfortable but also hinders the visibility of oncoming traffic. SumoSprings is one way of helping this.

Although, I cannot tell you exactly how much this will help your problem, but I can say that it will reduce your sag by a couple of inches. If this doesn't completely fix your issue, there are a couple other things that you can do. I would take the time to check your tongue weight using the etrailer tongue weight scale # e99044. Make sure that you're hauling level and with an even distribution of weight on your trailer. Check to see what your vehicles max tongue weight is and also the hitch that you'll be using.

We want the tongue weight to be about 10-15% of the overall weight of the trailer. After checking that and if you still have issues, you could get a weight distribution hitch like this one # FA92-00-0600.

Between all of these solutions, you shouldn't have any issues.
